BACKGROUND
The Stanford Women's Leadership Conference is a dynamic one-day leadership conference that focuses on critical issues pertaining to women’s leadership development. Over the years, SWLC has become a vibrant forum celebrating women leaders who have created their own path, raising awareness of global issues, and empowering participants to make a difference in their lives and in their communities. Attendees are invited to explore issues that face women leaders through a variety of talks, workshops, and dialogues.
This year, the conference will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at Stanford University. Our vision for this conference is to engage Stanford students and the larger Stanford community in productive dialogue with women who are making an impact in their fields and on the world. We hope to empower participants (that's you!) with actionable and practical takeaways broadly relevant to any industry.

THEME: HEAR MY VOICE
This year's theme is Hear My Voice; the inspiration for this came from the systematic underrepresentation of women in leadership positions across almost all industries. Women make up half the population, and yet their voices are seldom heard in the positions that matter. And when their voices are present, people often don't listen or take them seriously. Compounding this is the problematic representation (or misrepresentation) of the voices of women of color. Acknowledging all of this, we want our conference to impart practical skills and leadership knowledge to attendees in a space where we can also discuss how intersectional feminism relates to leadership and success.
